In 1989, U. S. Supreme Court Chief Justice Warren Burger chose William Sommerfield to portray George Washington for the Bicentennial re-creation of our first President’s Inauguration. Since then, Sommerfield has made our first President the focus of his work, speaking throughout America and Europe.

He has appeared on numerous TV programs, in Time Magazine, and on the covers of USA Today, New York Times and The Times of London. His touring schedule includes over 200 appearances each year.

Mr. Sommerfield was the first historical interpreter ever permitted to appear as Washington at Mt. Vernon, and he performs there regularly.

After President Washington speaks eloquently on the issues of his day, you will enjoy a “Presidential News Conference.” He will answer any question you ask, including what his wife Martha called him in private!
